Incredible opportunity for immigrants and refugees to learn Portuguese

We all know how difficult the Portuguese language can be for people who have never had contact with it before, especially for some immigrants. For this reason, the Catholic University of Brasília (UCB) has opened enrollment for totally free Portuguese classes for refugees and migrants. Entries can be made until January 31, as informed by the educational institution. Classes will be held at the institution's Taguatinga campus.

Free language classes will be held from Monday to Friday, in three periods: morning, afternoon and evening. Each meeting will last an average of two hours. Schedules are being scheduled according to everyone's availability, since the professors will be UCB students who are volunteers for the service.

There will also be the presence of external people who can dedicate at least four hours a week to teach the classes. Of course, not all volunteers will be able to give classes, as it is necessary to go through monitoring teaching and a specific training process, carried out at the Migrations and Human Rights Institute (IMDH).

As for refugees and migrants who intend to attend classes and learn the language completely free of charge, it has been emphasized that it is necessary to attend the Extension Coordination at the beginning of the school semester to make the enrollment. To apply for a vacancy, you must submit these documents:

  • Work Card;
  • Proof of residence;
  • CPF;
  • Photo 3×4;
  • Passport;
  • National Migration Registry (RNM).

To enroll, just go to the Extension Coordination in Block M, room 207 of the Taguatinga campus of Catholic University (UCB), from Monday to Friday, between 8:30 am and 11:30 am or from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm until January 31, bringing the documentation mentioned above.
