Nubank is warned about scams and security vulnerabilities in the app

The Consumer Defense Institute (Idec) sent a notification last Thursday (06) to Nubank, a Brazilian company of banking services and financial technology, requesting clarification on reports of customers who had their accounts invaded.

Idec took this measure due to several complaints in recent weeks on social networks, on the Reclame Aqui website and on Consumidor.gov.br related to the bank.

Users complain

Some people accuse the application of not being secure, as there are reports of criminals who managed to transfer user balance to third-party accounts. According to Idec, the victims' main criticism is that the financial institution does not implement security systems that block transactions that deviate from the established standard.

One victim shared the negative experience.

”I have had an account at Nubank for some time. I had BRL 2,105.00 in balance, but on 03/17 my account was hacked and they took all my money, took out loans and changed the PIX limit to make transfers…”, said the victim.

Through notification, Idec granted Nubank a period of 15 days to provide more information about the case. It is important for the company to adopt preventive measures to avoid fraud against customers who have had their cell phones stolen or stolen.

Nubank's answer

In a note to the TecMundo website, the bank reported that “security has been a priority since day one” and that the company cooperates “with the authorities responsible for consumer care”.

“We reaffirm our commitment to the protection of our more than 70 million customers, maintaining constant vigilance over the use of our services, including the development of protection tools to help users prevent and inhibit scams”, says the communicated.

Fintech also reinforced that, in case of suspicion of improper handling by third parties, customers must follow the step-by-step instructions available on SOS Nu.
