Even after the mayor's publication at the beginning of the month, the company continued to provide the service and refused to withdraw the category, claiming that they were supported by Brazilian legislation. The same application category is offered in Recife and Fortaleza.
In agreement with the city of SP, the capital of Rio de Janeiro also denied the service.
“We understand that the city government still needs more in-depth studies, which are being conducted by means of a technical working group that already includes Uber's participation. In common agreement, although supported by federal legislation that allows the service, we suspended Uber Moto in São Paulo while we continue to work directly with the Municipal executive looking for efficient and innovative alternatives for the mobility of people circulating in the city”, informed Uber when the mayor of the capital manifested.
The company pointed out that there were 20 days of service offered by the modality and that there was no accident or discomfort recorded. Time and location tests were carried out, mainly in areas further away from the center, thus proving the effectiveness in the users' time.
