The films that make the windows darker serve to inhibit the entry of light into the interior of the environment. In the case of cars, insulfilm films ensure that light does not enter along with the heat. Therefore, it is a method commonly used by drivers in Brazil.
In addition to inhibiting the entry of light and heat, the darker windows highlight the feeling of security for those inside the car. Hardly the darkest film allows people outside the vehicle to see what's inside. However, all these changes to the car must comply with the rules of the CTB (Brazilian Traffic Code).

Insulfilm law
Last year, Resolution n. 989/2022 of the National Transit Council changed the rules for applying insulfilm to the car. In all, drivers can add the film to the four side windows, rear window and windshield. Of these, only the windshield needed to be changed.
According to the CTB, the windshield glass needs to be 70% transparent, not allowing very dark glass to be added. With this rule, there are conductors that still have the skins that were acceptable before the change, with 75% transparency.
The side windows and the rear window were not modified by law, continuing with the same expected percentage. 28% transparency is still required for these glasses alone, which do not impair the driver's vision.
If the rule is not complied with, when stopping at a blitz, the driver will be penalized with a fine. In addition to darker films, opaque or mirrored films were completely prohibited by the CTB. The justification for the change reveals that the prohibited films affected the driver's vision.
application of the fine
If the dark insulfilm is outside the stipulated standard or the driver has opaque or mirrored films, the driver will be committing a serious infraction. The fine will be applied in the amount of R$ 195.23, with a loss of five points in the driver's license (National driving license).
