How to clean your iron

Knowing how to clean your iron correctly is important to extend the life of the device, in addition to preventing your clothes from ending up with some kind of stain that is terrible to remove. The best part is that by keeping it clean, you save your energy, as the iron doesn't need to draw as much energy to do its job.

Check out some ways to clean it without having to work. Just remember that all the tips given here must be done with the iron unplugged, that is, completely turned off.

  • Neutral detergent: It is a smoother product, without abrasive compounds and that will not damage your device. For cleaning, you will need detergent and a soft sponge. You should wet the sponge and then remove all excess water. Then you will put a little detergent on the sponge. Soon after, just rub it on the stained spots. Done that, pass a dry cloth to finish.
  • Sodium bicarbonate: You will make a paste of water with bicarbonate. To do this, mix 1 tablespoon of water with 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Once the mixture is pasty, apply it to the iron and rub it with a cloth or a soft sponge. Then just wipe it off with a cloth.
  • steel wool: Do not wet the steel wool, as it needs to be very dry. You must rub without straining.
  • white vinegar: Take some vinegar, put it in a container and heat it, then dip a cloth into the vinegar. Then start cleaning the iron, then finish with a slightly damp cloth.
  • Salt: You will spread the salt over a cloth and heat your iron. Right after unplugging it (don't do this with the iron on), you'll rub the salt over it. When the iron has completely cooled down, just wipe it with a slightly damp cloth and remove everything.
