Pieni II release details

The compact camera made by this company is 51 mm wide, 18 mm deep and only 36 mm high. Excluding the micro SD card and accessories, the Pieni II weighs only 18 grams.

The Pieni II supports photography, video recording and voice recording and saves data to the camera's micro SD, which is sold separately. File formats for still images are JPEG (1280 x 1024), MJPEG (AVI, 720 x 480 30fps) for movies and MP3 for audio.

In addition, the image sensor is a 1/10 type CMOS with a rather small resolution of 1.31 megapixels, which, as mentioned earlier, can switch between video and photos. The camera has only two buttons, one for power on and one for mode (photo/video).

Small details of the microcamera

The device has a small LED on the back that is color-coded to show whether it is set to photo mode or video mode (photo is red and video is blue). For audio-only recordings, it is indicated by a purple color.

According to the company Kenko Tokina, the quality of the photos captured by the camera resembles watercolors or oil paintings, as shown in the image below. This is basically a nice way of saying the resolution is pretty low.

In addition to these features, the camera has also released a few different designs. So they're available in grey, mint, peach, and orange, and come in four character designs: Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and Pochacco.

extra information

The camera includes a neck strap, allowing users to carry the ultra-compact camera as an accessory. There's also a built-in magnet on the back, so users can attach the Pieni II to a fridge, for example.

Finally, the Pieni II camera entered the market since last week, on the 16th of September. The Pieni II is available for 4,880 yen (approximately US$34), while the Sanrio Character Toy Camera is available for 6,580 yen (approximately US$45).
