Lula extends implementation of the new document
Last Monday, therefore, President Lula published a resolution in the Official Gazette (DOU) that amends the new documentation.
The publication starts a kind of Technical Working Group (GTT), in order to discuss questions about the implementation of the fields 'gender' and 'social name' in the new RG.
In 2022, this same proposal was discussed, as the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) went so far as to claim that it would be an exposition of great embarrassment and embarrassment to add the fields to the official Brazilian documentation.
The registered name would be stamped before the social name, as was also presented in the decree of the previous government.
“The discrimination and questioning that exposes this portion of the population to the various forms of violence, humiliation and degrading treatments, violate the right to identity self-determination of these people”, said the MPF in note.
The team assembled by Lula, to discuss the addition of these fields in the RG will have a period of 2 months to define what can be done.
So far, only 4 states issue the new RG
The RG (General Registry) will become CIN (National Identity Card) according to the presidential decree presented in 2022. The main proposal is to unify the CPF (Individual Taxpayer Registration) as a unique identification for all Brazilians.
Despite the 2023 deadline for implementation being presented, only 4 states are issuing the new documentation.
Mato Grosso, Santa Catarina, Alagoas and Acre issue the new CIN and the other states are still in the testing phase or, in many of them, there is still no deadline for starting the new document.
