The federal government recently announced the launch of the Desenrola program, an initiative that aims to forgive debts of up to R$ 100 and make it possible to renegotiate debts of up to R$ 5,000.
This measure seeks to reduce the number of defaulting families in the country. A campaign promise by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the program should reach around 70 million people, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Who will benefit from the program?
Desenrola will benefit families with debts registered until December 31, 2022 and whose income does not exceed two minimum wages.
However, it is important to point out that not all defaulters will have their debts forgiven or will be able to renegotiate them in accordance with the program's rules. This will depend on whether lenders join the program and the discounts they are willing to offer.
discounts on negotiations
One of the main proposals of the program is that debts of up to R$ 5,000 have discounts offered by creditors. To guarantee the payment of the new debt agreements, the government will provide a guarantee through the Operations Guarantee Fund (FGO), which has resources from the National treasure.
If the customer fails to pay, the fund itself will bear the negotiated installments, reducing the risk of default for financial institutions.
How will the program work?
Creditors wishing to join the program must forgive debts of up to R$100, immediately removing the name of these clients from debtors' records.
As for the renegotiation of debts of up to R$5,000, the government will promote debt purchase auctions through B3, the São Paulo stock exchange. São Paulo. The creditors that offer the highest discounts in their renegotiations will be selected by the government and will join the program, with receipt guaranteed by the FGO.
When will the measures take effect?
Although the Desenrola program was made official through a Provisional Measure, its implementation is expected to start only in July. During this period, creditors will be able to register on a specific platform.
Subsequently, the government, in partnership with B3, will carry out debt purchase auctions, in which creditors will manifest the discounts they are willing to offer for the renegotiation of debts.
The greater the discounts offered, the greater the chances of being selected to join the program. Only after this step, debtors will be able to renegotiate their debts with discounts.
