Other significant increases that weighed on the average were beers, which rose 10.9% in price, soft drinks, which are 15.7% more expensive, in addition to potatoes and rice, which increased by 11.7% and 14.7% in one year, respectively.
Carlos Correa, director of Apas, points out that the only way to save at this time is to do extensive research before buying food for supper Easter.
“Each supermarket has a different negotiation with the industry. It is vital that consumers make their shopping list and research prices in as many stores as possible, taking full advantage of typical promotions at the time”, advised the director.
Despite increases in food prices, Apas also predicted a 4.5% increase in sales this Easter, compared to last year.
This is because, according to the entity, despite being more expensive, the foods had a slowdown in the price increase, while the income of Brazilians has increased in percentage terms.
