Last Wednesday, the 10th, during an extraordinary session, the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp) approved the new state minimum wage, setting its value at R$ 1,550. This measure will cover all workers in the state of São Paulo and will come into force after approval by the governor.

With the approval of the new value of R$ 1,550, with a unification of salary ranges, this adjustment results in an increase significant 20.7% for workers who were in the first salary range and 18.7% for those who were in second track. This change aims to provide an improvement in the remuneration of São Paulo workers.
The bill that provides for the readjustment of the state minimum wage was forwarded by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) and, after approval by the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp), it will be sent again for the governor's approval and will enter into force.
During the session, deputies also approved the inclusion of caregivers for the elderly as beneficiaries of the São Paulo minimum wage. This inclusion aims to ensure that this professional category, which does not have salary levels established by law or collective agreement, is covered by the new value of the state minimum wage.
In this way, caregivers of the elderly will be guaranteed to receive at least the amount stipulated as the minimum wage in the state of São Paulo. This measure seeks to promote the appreciation and protection of the labor rights of this specific category.
The value in force for the state of São Paulo is higher than the minimum offered for the Federal Government. On Labor Day, May 1st, the federal salary went from R$ 1,302 to R$ 1,320, considering that the salary in the southeastern state is R$ 230 higher than the Brazilian salary.
