How does the cap value work?

Annually, the INSS updates the ceiling according to the previous year's inflation. Thus, the limit on the amounts to be paid to beneficiaries of retirement, pensions or other benefits granted by Social Security is changed. Thus, a floor is stipulated between the minimum wage and the ceiling, which today corresponds to R$ 7,087.22.

Is it still possible to receive the ceiling amount?

To summarize, it is indeed possible to get the benefit in the amount of the INSS ceiling. However, it is a very difficult process and will depend on several aspects, such as contribution time, age, contribution amount and even life expectancy. Therefore, it is necessary to fulfill a series of requirements to have access to the full benefit.

In addition, due to changes in the Pension Reform, getting this retirement has become even more complicated. First of all, to be able to receive the ceiling or something close to it, it is necessary to have contributed very high amounts for at least 40 years.

This happens because the index of inflationary corrections in the value of the INSS has changed a lot over the years, so it started to consider an average of contributions that began in 1994. With that, those who receive below the ceiling cannot receive retirement with that amount.

In this case, a good option is to complement the benefit through a private pension. In addition, it is also possible to complement the amounts through the MEI or individual taxpayer, since in the employee status it is impossible to contribute more than the ceiling, as it is passed on by the company based on your wage.
