Rare and sinister species of animals are found in the Indian Ocean

For the first time, the bottom of the sea Park Marine of the Cocos Islands, atAustralia, was mapped by scientists at the Research Institute of Museums Victoria. Through this mapping, several rare species were found in the depths of the Ocean Indian.

This is the newest marine national park, the ParkMarineofIslandsCocos, which covers an extensive area of 467,054 square km in the deep ocean waters. Among the many species found by the scientists, some draw a lot of attention for being unpublished, and also for their anomalies.

Learn a little more about the mapping done in the Cocos Islands Marine Park, Australia:

The trip lasted 35 days and the researchers had just returned, 11,000 km of the park's maritime area were searched. The trip was made aboard the research vessel Investigator, which was operated by the Organization in Scientific and Industrial Research of the Commonwealth. (CSIRO).

The diverse underwater topography of the park was documented, in addition to being able to capture images and specimens of some rare species of animals never seen before in the world.

“We discovered an incredible number of potentially new species living in this remote marine park.”, says the scientist-bossof the expedition, from the Museums Victoria Research Institute, Dr. Tim O'Hara.

“We used RV Investigator's full ocean depth mapping capabilities to conduct comprehensive surveys to thearound of the Cocos Islands, from depths coastal of less than 100m until the abyssfencein 4.800m down”, clarified Nelson Kuna, CSIRO surveyor.

"Oset of data now covers an area substantial of the new marine park and shows the Cocos Islands as youpeaks twins of a huge seamount that elevate almost 5,000 meters from the surrounding seabed.É really an honor to see, for the first time, thesecharacteristicsimpressiverevealed from the depths.”.
