We tend to only realize the value of something when we lose it, which is a serious mistake. In this sense, we have lost a lot, due to all the neglect, deforestation and animal trafficking that have occurred all over the world.
Scientists estimate that, unfortunately, there will be an even more drastic reduction in the biodiversity: half of the species that still exist today may disappear from the planet. This problem is even more serious when we take into account that this will create a chain reaction in the ecological balance.

Little Blue Macaw

This species became a little more famous after the release of the movie “Blue”, which portrayed precisely the struggle of biologists and scientists in an attempt to prevent the extinction of this bird. This was a bird found in the region of the basin of the Paraná and Uruguay rivers, in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and southern Brazil.
Due to hunting and illegal trafficking, its population became smaller and smaller. Because it has not been seen for over 80 years, and there are no more specimens in captivity, this is considered an extinct species by many researchers.
Ivory-billed Woodpecker

Although brief sightings occurred in 2004 and 2005, it is estimated that, in fact, the ivory-billed woodpecker has been extinct for at least 50 years. This bird was native to the North American swamps and temperate coniferous forests of the southern USA and Cuba.
great auk

These birds were heavily hunted for their meat, feathers and eggs. Due to uncontrolled hunting, its extinction occurred in the early 19th century. Currently, stuffed specimens of this bird are super rare. There are only 80, in museum collections around the world.
dodo

This species lived in Mauritius, located off the coast of Madagascar. It did not fly, and its reproduction took a long time. With the arrival of humans and rats on the island in 1500, these factors made the Dodo vulnerable. About a century later, the species became extinct, leaving only bones and drawings of these animals.
