More workers prefer remote work to face-to-face work!

What began as a COVID-19 concern has evolved into a shift in perspective with long-term societal implications. People have tried working from home because they have to, and the fact is that many people have come to find it more enjoyable than they expected.

These sentiments are emphasized in a Pew Research study from earlier this year entitled “The Covid-19 Pandemic Continues to Reshape America’s Workplace.” The survey showed that before the pandemic, 57% of employees “rarely or never” worked from home. Among those who have a place of work outside the home, 61% are opting out of it, while during the beginning of the pandemic, this percentage was only 36%. Importantly, 72% of employees feel that working from home has not hindered their ability to move forward.

Some benefits of home office

The home office has become the preferred modality of several professionals for several reasons, in addition to the convenience of not having to leave the house. One of these reasons is that people do not need to interact with superiors. This had a positive effect on decreasing employee tension and exaggerated expectations. Another point is that with remote work, employees were able to feel more comfortable performing their activities, whether for the freedom of clothing or the comfort of the furniture and infrastructure of the House.

In this way, we can say that the pandemic changed the way most managers and employees saw the remote work environment. This is one of the main reasons why many companies continue to adopt the home office model, or even a hybrid one, even today.
