From January to May 2022, the responsible institutions issued 345,660 visas, according to a survey by the AG Immigration law firm. According to the most recent data collected in May, visas issued to citizens born in Brazil were an impressive 79,212 documents, equivalent to 13% more than in the month prior to the survey (April).
The 315,000 Brazilian tourists who entered the United States from January to May this year place Brazil in the fourth placement among the nations that sent the most visitors to the country in 2022, according to information from the US Department of Commerce USA. Brazil surpasses indexes of entire regions, such as the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Africa and Oceania.
“Since activities were normalized at the American consulates and Embassy in November last year, the demand for visas of tourism does not stop growing, even with the unfavorable exchange variation", explains Felipe Alexandre, founding partner of AG Immigration.
However, he emphasizes that emissions were not necessarily requested only this year. “As the diplomatic bodies were closed for almost two years to the general public, due to the pandemic, the backlog of requests is very large. Consular officers have been making a lot of effort to cope with the volume”, he concludes.
