Co-pilot in Nepal crash lost husband on plane 16 years ago

Last Sunday, January 15th, a plane crash caused great commotion around the world. After crashing in the city of Pokhara, Nepal, the accident killed all the people on board, being considered the worst air disaster in the country in the last 30 years.

One particular case caught the public's attention. Co-pilot Anju Khatiwada, who also died in the plane crash, had lost her husband in the same way in 2006. After Dipak Pokhrel's passing, the family encouraged the woman to pursue a career in aviation.

At the time, the loss was a reason for a lot of pain for the woman and the family, leaving her with a young son and an empty heart. Last Sunday's accident aroused the curiosity of many people for this case.

According to the woman's family, the co-pilot was determined and a dreamer, managing to make her family's dreams come true through work. It took four years after widowhood for the woman to become a co-pilot. Promptly, she was able to join Yeti Airlines.

After years of facing the tragedy of her late husband, Anju remarried and managed to overcome all the obstacles that life threw at her. The fact that life ended for the co-pilot the way her ex-husband had passed away is a sobering moment for the entire family.

The first among women, Anju was one of six women working at the company to date, she managed to accumulate 6,400 hours of service until the tragic day of the plane crash in Nepal.

“She was an airline captain and flew solo. She was a brave woman,” said a Yeti Airlines co-worker.

The plane crash in Pokhara left debris scattered across the Seti River, as if it were something totally fragile. After the crash, possible relatives of the victims surrounded the wreckage of the plane, waiting for the bodies to be released to say goodbye.
