The decision to abolish the Civic-Military Schools Program (Pecim), taken by President Luís Inácio Lula da Silva Silva (PT), will probably have limited impacts in most of the states that adhered to the mentioned model of teaching.
According to a survey carried out by Poder360, only the state of Alagoas confirmed that it will completely end the participation of military personnel in schools.

At least 19 states intend to maintain or readjust the model, while another 7 have not yet reached a decision.
Last Wednesday, the 12th, the government announced the extinction of the program created in 2019 during the term of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
This program involved the participation of civilian professionals in the pedagogical area of schools, while the military, such as police, firefighters or members of the Armed Forces, would act in the administrative part of institutions of teaching.
Last year, according to data from the Ministry of Education, approximately 200 schools across the country adopted the civic-military model, impacting the routine of 120,000 students. The largest concentration of these schools is located in the southern region of Brazil.
Governors took a stand against the extinction of Pecim
It is worth noting that some governors, elected with the support of former President Jair Bolsonaro, have taken a more emphatic position in relation to the end of the federal government's program.
An example is the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, from the Republican party. He stated that he intends to issue a decree to regulate his own program to replace Pecim.
In the Federal District, Governor Ibaneis Rocha (MDB) declared himself in favor of continuing with Pecim. The same position was adopted by the governor of Santa Catarina, Jorginho Mello (PL). In Minas Gerais, Governor Romeu Zema also declared that civic-military schools will continue to operate.
According to education specialists, the attitude of the governors can be positive, as new resources, this time from the state, will be injected into Brazilian education.
