Assistance for taxi drivers: check the rules for payments

The Federal Government has defined the rules of a assistance for taxi drivers in the amount of R$ 1,000, called the Emergency Benefit for Taxi Drivers (BEm-Taxista). The rules have already been published in the Federal Official Gazette (DOU), through an Ordinance of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. Payments will begin on August 16th.

Assistance for taxi drivers

According to the Ordinance, the aid was formulated with the objective of contributing to the confrontation of the state of emergency arising from the rise in the price of oil and its derivatives, such as fuels. There will be six installments of BRL 1,000 each, however, the global limit on transfers intended for aid is up to BRL 2 billion.

The first payment will be made on August 16, in the amount of R$ 2 thousand, referring to two installments, corresponding to the months of July and August. As for the credit of taxi drivers included in the second stage onwards, the forecast is that the aid will be paid on August 30.

Necessary requirements to receive assistance for taxi drivers

The Ordinance that regulates the benefit also defined the need to present an authorization, which may be issued by both the municipal and district public authorities, approving the exercise of the activity. In addition, taxi drivers interested in the benefit must have a valid National Driver's License (CNH).

How to receive aid for taxi drivers?

According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, drivers will not need to register, as registration will be the responsibility of municipal and district entities until July 31, in a system developed by Dataprev, which will later analyze the data sent. In addition, the information must be updated monthly.

Taxi drivers who will NOT be able to receive assistance

  • Drivers who have restrictions on the CPF, who are pending regularization at the Federal Revenue, in a null, suspended, canceled situation, or of a deceased holder;
  • Have CPFs linked, as plaintiffs, to the granting of prison aid or pension for death of any nature;
  • Are holders of the benefit for permanent incapacity for work;
  • Taxi drivers with an indication of death in the Death Control System or in the National Civil Registry Information System will be considered ineligible;
  • Furthermore, the benefit will not be paid cumulatively with the Truck Driver Assistance.
