First of all, when noticing that the animal is not in the mood to eat, the problem can be physiological, change of routine, stress, hormonal change or even a change in the weather. The list is huge, however what we can do is try to understand our pet and take him to the vet if he persists.
How to understand what's going on with him
First, look at your pet's behavior: is it behaving normally, still playing, jumping, interacting and communicating?
If he is acting normally, note if his food is not different from usual, such as:
- The feed is old or poorly stored and this causes it to lose the desired flavor and texture;
- Someone may have given the food outside the usual time and he still doesn't feel like having another meal;
- He got used to eating other foods, as well as vegetables, fruits or rice that were made available to him;
- There was a change of food and that's why it's normal for the dog to stop having so much appetite when it comes to the new food.
Another factor is that food is always available for the pet, this is bad for three reasons:
- Food becomes mushy when exposed for a long time in the potty;
- Increases the chance of insects, such as ants and flies, being present;
- He will lose the desire to eat that food because it is always there.
