Health plans will offer unlimited consultations with speech therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists

Last Monday (11), the National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS) approved the end of the limit on the number of consultations and sessions in some areas of health, such as psychology, speech therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy. In this way, they will be offered unlimited consultations by health plans to patients, regardless of their health conditions or any disease listed by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The measure comes shortly after expanding the coverage of health plans for users with pervasive developmental disorders and was released after a meeting of the collegiate board of the ANS. According to the information disclosed, the resolution already takes effect from August 1 of this year, shortly after its publication in the Official Gazette.

coverage of plans

Recently, after the increase in the coverage of health plans for users with pervasive developmental disorders, the sessions with physiotherapists, speech therapists, psychologists and other professionals now cover all ICD disorders F84. For this to happen, changes were made to Annex 2 of the Agency's List of Procedures, where it is possible to find out what is mandatory coverage by the agreements.

On June 8, inclusive, a decision by the STJ (Superior Court of Justice) released operators from paying procedures not included in the ANS coverage list, which ended up making the NOR exhaustive and not exemplary.

Purpose of query expansion

“The objective is to promote equal rights for users of supplementary health and to standardize the format of procedures currently ensured for these professional categories. Thus, the Use Guidelines (required conditions for certain coverages) for consultations and sessions with psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists, and the service will start to consider the prescription of the attending physician", said the ANS in the note.

Thus, the guidelines that were previously used for consultations and sessions with these professionals should be excluded. Now, the patient's doctor's prescription should be considered.
