The invention of the airplane revolutionized the world transport matrix, as this modality provided speed in the displacement of passengers and goods. The emergence of several airlines caused a drop in ticket values and, consequently, a greater number of people started using the plane to travel both internationally and in the territory national.
To ensure safety and efficiency in this form of transport, the state of conservation of the aircraft is not enough, qualification of the pilots and structure of the airports, being also necessary a team to control and coordinate the air traffic. Therefore, extremely capable people are responsible for controlling the airspace, ensuring the safe flow of aircraft.
These professionals are in charge of planning, managing and controlling the flights, assessing the weather conditions, the airspace mapping, route, aircraft speed, altitude, aircraft flow, among other factors that may interfere with safety of flights.
Information is passed on to aircraft pilots through flight controllers located in centrals. Data must be transmitted clearly and objectively, following a pre-established pattern.
The standards and methods used for air traffic control are established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). In Brazil, the agency responsible for air traffic control is the Department of Airspace Control (DECA), which reports to the Ministry of Defense and the Air Force Command.
