Small businesses generate more jobs than large companies.

Sebrae has worked tirelessly to support the growth of such companies, offering consulting, training and qualification services, in addition to providing financial and tax incentives. The aim is to help entrepreneurs to develop their businesses, increasing competitiveness, thus contributing even more to the generation of more jobs and to the economic development of the country.

During 2022, the sectors in which small businesses hired the most were diverse, but we highlight services, as more than 828,000 jobs were created. The other areas were:

  • Commerce with 332.6 thousand new posts;
  • Civil construction with 229.8 thousand new opportunities;
  • Transformation industry opened 158.3 thousand jobs;
  • Agriculture created over 30.8 thousand jobs.

The president of Sebrae, Carlos Melles, commented on this study: “As in 2022, I am sure that, this year, micro and small companies, mainly individual microentrepreneurs, will continue to drive our economy, with emphasis on the sectors of services and business”.

Tax and financial incentive programs for companies, in addition to measures to facilitate the opening of new businesses, can help stimulate the creation of new jobs; however, job creation is the result of a combination of factors, including economic growth, incentives government, investments in infrastructure, development of new sectors, qualification of the workforce and innovation.
