Sleeping and waking up with more money in your account is the dream of many people out there. Last week, an error in the payment system of the google pay caused a problem never seen in the US. This is because some users of the digital wallet noticed that the company unjustifiably deposited amounts between US$50 and US$1,000 in their accounts.

A Reddit user, a site that brings together several forums, received one of the largest amounts disclosed. His balance in the application, according to images posted on the social network, was US$ 1,072, almost R$ 5,455 in direct conversion. After a while, the search giant identified the problem and sent a message alerting affected customers via email.

“You received this email because an unintentional cash credit was deposited in your Google Pay account. The problem has already been resolved and, when possible, the credit will be reversed”, says the company's statement.

However, those who received and withdrew the amounts from the digital wallet had a good surprise. This is because the user will not have to return anything.

“If we can't reverse the credit, the money is yours. No further action is required. The use of money will also not generate punishment for users,” adds the statement.

reason for failure

Mishaal Rahman, a security analyst, said that one of the hypotheses for the bug is that the company was testing new features internally among employees and ended up sending money to regular users via mistake. Mishaal got $46 “freebie” in his account.

According to Android Police, the error has already been resolved and the rewards were limited to users of the USA, which, along with Singapore, still uses Google Pay, not the Google Wallet application, adopted in the world all.

Google Pay allows users to store credit, debit and loyalty cards in their Google Account and use them to make payments online and in stores. In addition, it also supports peer-to-peer payments, allowing users to send and receive money to/from other users.
