Recently, the Federal Government announced that it will proceed with the so-called Brazil Internet Program. The project is led by the ministries of communications and education and aims to bring internet access to the country's low-income population, in the most diverse locations.

The main objective is for more and more people to have access to broadband, starting with students who are part of public basic education in Brazil. The benefit consists of a chip with a 20gb data package, which is automatically renewed every 30 days.

To participate, students must be part of CadÚnico, where Brazilian low-income families are enrolled, both for this and for for other social programs and by young people, it is necessary to be between the 3rd year of elementary school and the last school year of education average.

According to what was disclosed by the Ministry of Education, the implementation of the project is in its initial phase and, at first, six municipalities in four different states, namely: Caicó (RN), Campina Grande (PB), Juazeiro (BA), Mossoró (RN) and Caruaru (PB).

These municipalities will be part of the beginning and it is expected that all Brazilian schools will have internet by the end of this year, when the project will advance to the next phases.

In addition to students, the government will also open the possibility of bringing internet to families, aiming to expand the digital inclusion system in Brazil. and also to seek to maintain a closer relationship between the students' parents and the school's professionals, facilitating communication in general.

According to the telecommunications secretary at the Ministry of Communications, Nathalia Lobo, another action is being planned by the government. The Wi-Fi Brasil Program is also an initiative created to expand digital inclusion. Through it, internet via satellite will be taken to places where broadband access is not possible.

This project also seeks to benefit people in situations of social vulnerability and, to date, installations have already been carried out in more than 17,000 telecenters, including communities indigenous peoples, quilombolas and health units, covering about 3 thousand municipalities, which in 78% of cases are located in rural areas of cities, where access is usually more complex.
