What is minimalism?

Initially the concept of minimalism arose along with the series of artistic, cultural and scientific movements that emerged within the twentieth century, and were concerned with using few elements to carry out their form of expression in any area. This movement had a great impact and influence on the visual arts, design and music.

Minimalism as a lifestyle

This movement began to enchant many people and be incorporated into the daily lives of many of them.

With that, it gained popularity and became a very useful tool in our society that intends to teach people how to get rid of excesses and focus on what is most important, herself and her freedom.

So, basically, minimalism is about simplifying life and keeping to what's really essential.

Thus, the artists chose to use only the most basic and necessary elements for their production and expression. Furthermore, they prefer the reduction of artistic form to a minimal geometric volume.

minimalist decoration

Minimalism: decoration

When we talk about decorating houses and apartments, we immediately think of walls full of paintings, shelves, lots of furniture, closets full of clothes and shoes.

However, many of these objects are only there to fill space and some clothes and shoes are almost never used, only being accumulated.

So, when talking about minimalist decoration it's needed eliminate all these excesses and stay with only the necessary.

Like this, minimalist houses usually have a lot of free space, few objects and few furniture. Furthermore, in minimalism there are no rules and each one decides how he wants to make his own minimalist life, what is important and necessary and what is not.

minimalist clothing

Minimalism: clothing

In some magazines, reports, or even on social networks, we see in the homes of rich and famous people that closet huge and full of clothes and shoes, a great excess called “luxury”. However, many of these clothes are unnecessary and may just be there taking up space.

However, it is not only in the wardrobe of famous people that there are accumulated clothes. In fact, most people have some piece of clothing or a pair of shoes that they don't wear, but they don't have the courage or never thought about getting rid of it.

This is where minimalism comes in, with the practice of getting rid of clothes you don't wear or even get rid of many others to reduce the amount you already have and start reusing these more times. This can be done by having only “joker” pieces, which can be used on several occasions.

Furthermore, to have a minimalist clothing, it's good to have more neutral pieces that are easy to combine. With that, in addition to not spending money buying several pieces, with minimalism you now have a small amount of better quality pieces and clothes that can last for years.
