The new RG may be issued from August 4th in some states, with changes that promise more practicality and security for Brazilians. Now, the document will gather data from the identity card and the CPF, becoming a single item with the same numbering on duplicates. In addition, citizens will also be able to count on a version digital, which will have the same authenticity as physics. Learn more below.

Changes in the new RG
In addition to containing information from the main identification documents, the new RG can be considered much safer. In the case of the digital version, just validate it using a unique and non-transferable QR Code, and you can take it anywhere on your smartphone. In it, citizens will even have access to data such as blood type, voter registration or if the individual is an organ donor.
Furthermore, the new identity card adopted the international standard with an MRZ code, the same present in passports. Because of this, it will also be a valid document for travel outside the country, especially in Latin America. Therefore, it is even safer, following a series of instructions from the Mint, Federal Police and Itamaraty.
Date of issue
Not all states will issue the new RG model from August 4th. Therefore, only citizens of the following federative units will be able to have it in their hands: Acre, Federal District, Goiás, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. All others will only be able to issue it from March 2023.
Every citizen registered with the biometrics in the Electoral Court or other state identification bodies will be able to request the new RG. All you have to do is go to any service and identification unit, such as the SSP, and fill in the form with the requested data. Also, the transition between documents will be done gradually and free of charge, while also maintaining the validity of the current identity.
