What is the metaverse?
The metaverse functions as a parallel reality. In it, it is possible to access different virtual environments in an extremely immersive way. In this case, it is not something real, but a space that seeks to provide that sense of reality. This is a very present idea in works of science fiction since the 1980s.
Thinking about the future, big technology companies, such as Facebook, are trying to expand this concept even further. Because of this, they start to consider the metaverse as an alternative league for the consumption of products. They even announced loans of a virtual currency for this reality.
How did the meeting between students work?
With the start of the school year in Japan, millions of young students have returned to school after a long period of quarantine. Culturally, this date is marked by an official ceremony, but it was interrupted due to the complications of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, some institutions decided to maintain the tradition through an online event.
Basically, these students' avatars were used to find principals, teachers, and student body leaders through the virtual environment. For this, a virtual ceremony was broadcast live on Youtube. In this way, the meeting, which was a success, points to the countless possibilities of the metaverse for several people.
Incidentally, this was not the first time that an important meeting was held through the digital space. Recently, the first Metaverse Fashion Week took place, where big names from the world of fashion were present.
