Why are people breaking their TVs more than ever?

In the middle of the 21st century, virtual reality is a way to escape so many real problems and embark on magical worlds full of prizes and fun. But what happens is that when we are playing games, we tend to express our virtual actions in a real way.

In this case, people immersed in the virtual world can end up going beyond the limits of this “space” and often cause serious problems in the real world. This is due to the loss of space and the need to vent your emotions.

More and more people are submerged in the virtual world, however, something has been puzzling as many are breaking their TVs by accident. According to a survey by the insurance company Aviva, the claims of people who accidentally bump into the TV for playing with virtual devices has grown by about 68% since 2016.

People get lost in the virtual world

The most popular Christmas present was the Oculus Quest 2, a device capable of inserting the user into the virtual world. As a result, the Oculus app has also become quite popular in recent months.

Several users sought to activate the application. However, this has become a danger for furniture close to places where video games with virtual reality are played. In 2021 alone, claims involving accidents with virtual reality glasses grew by 31%.

In Europe, the average compensation for accidents caused by these devices is 775 euros, in which most incidents affect television screens.

Create protective barriers

Perhaps the most viable alternative is to develop protective barriers to prevent owners from breaking their own devices. An example of this was when Nintendo realized that its Wii console, despite many results, was leading its consumers to use them as throwing weapons. In this way, the company had to develop a silicone cover capable of minimizing the risks and added a bracelet to improve the performance of the controls.

Virtual reality is part of the future, but people still have to learn to adapt their reality to it. It is a difficult job, but one that cannot be thought of separately. Anyway, to live a virtual reality, you need to be well in the real world.
