During the first three months of 2022, sales of around 1.98 million computers in Brazil. The number represents a brief increase of 6%, if compared to the same period last year, according to a study by IDC Brazil. Total revenue from the computer market rose 27% on the same basis of comparison to R$8.9 billion.

Of this total sold between January and March 2022 in the country, 450,000 were desktop computers, which represents an increase of 15%, and approximately 1.5 million notebooks, indicating a 3% increase, both using the comparison Yearly.
According to the survey, this increase is due to the corporate market, which ended up reaching its highest level of participation in recent years, representing almost 49% of the total sales of computers and growing about 36% more than in the months of January, February and March 2021. As for retail, which reached a volume close to 1 million units, it fell by around 12% year on year.
With regard to prices, in the first quarter of 2022, the average cost of a desktop was around BRL 3.5 thousand, and of a notebook, on average BRL 4.7 thousand. These values indicate a cost of about 8% to 23% more than in the first quarter of last year.
For the rest of the year, IDC has a projection of a slight retraction in the computer market, but this perspective is not linked to all segments. For retail, the expectation is that it will be lower, as had already been observed in the first quarter of this year. However, for corporate (B2B), current projections are for a significant increase during the rest of the year.
“Certainly the country has its challenges in the economy and politics that will extend into the coming months, but we are also in a moment of understanding of the new working conditions hybrid technology and digital transformation in the post-pandemic context, which could benefit the computer segment", was the assessment passed by Daniel Voltarelli, market and IDC analyst at IDC Brazil.
