Young Brazilians are entitled to THIS advantageous benefit

There are many young people in Brazil who are entitled to a benefit granted by the government, but who are not even aware of it. The program is called ID Jovem and is aimed at teenagers and adults up to 29 years old. It can be very advantageous, as it gives discounts on tickets to cultural events, free tickets and much more.

Meet the Young ID

It is aimed at low-income Brazilians who are enrolled in the CadÚnico (Single Registration). Beneficiaries must be between 15 and 29 years old. It is estimated that around 3.2 million Youth IDs have already been processed across the country and that there are more than 400,000 active wallets at the moment.

Registered Brazilians who fit the requirements will have the advantage of half-price admission to cinemas, theaters, concerts, stadiums and any other cultural event. Public transport tickets can be 100% free in some cases or guarantee a reduced price.

If you want to receive the benefit, you should know that – unlike other social programs – it is not necessary for the individual to be studying. Still, you will need to abide by some rules set by the government.

Rules for receiving the Youth ID

  • Be between 15 and 29 years old. Those who have recently turned 15, wait for the Youth ID database to update to be able to apply;
  • Be enrolled in CadÚnico (Cadastro Único) and have updated data for at least two years (24 months);
  • Have a Social Identification Number (NIS);
  • Have a family income of up to two minimum wages.

How to apply for Youth ID

You will need to register for CadÚnico at the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) closest to your residence. After registration, when carrying the NIS, it will be necessary to request the document through this website.

At this address, some information will be requested: full name, date of birth, mother's full name and NIS number. After the process, the card will be issued with a validity of 180 days. The document can be renewed if the young person is still meeting the basic requirements for the application.
