Starting next year, Brazil will assume the presidency of the Group of 20 developed countries in the world. With that, there was freedom to create a kind of “Educational G20 agenda”.
The group's next meeting should take place in September of this year and, from then on, the MEC should publish what will be the priorities for the next one.
The proposals are expected to come in the wake of what Camilo Santana has been declaring. “The idea is to train our young people for forms of development that are non-predatory, non-polluting,” he said in a recent interview.
Brazil as President of the G20
The Group of 20 is currently made up of 20 countries, including: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, United States and Union European.
Since 2008, the countries have been taking turns in the presidency of the Group and, in 2024, it will be the first year that Brazil assumes this function. Because of this, many of the group's meetings for the coming years will be held in Brazilian territory.
The first G20 Leaders Summit in Brazilian management should take place on November 18 and 19, 2024, in Rio de Janeiro.
The idea, according to the Presidency of the Republic, is to discuss three challenges: combating inequality, reforming global governance and sustainable development, in addition to education.
