Death caused by neglect of the mother
The grisly discovery was made by Kristel when she returned home to West 97th Street in Cleveland. Sadly, the child was found unconscious and pronounced dead at the scene.
The authorities stated that the cause of death was a dehydrationextreme, evidencing the shocking neglect on her mother's part.
During interrogation, the woman confessed to having left her daughter alone at home while traveling to Puerto Rico and Detroit, totaling ten days of absence.
In addition, investigators found the child's playpen filled with dirty blankets and a saturated background of urine and stool, indicating unhealthy and worrisome conditions in which the child was living.
The news of Jailyn's tragic death and Kristel's subsequent arrest rocked neighbors, who expressed the wish that she had asked for help and left the baby in the care of responsible people, instead of leaving her at home.
Kristel is facing a series of serious charges that include one count of aggravated murder, two murder charges, as well as lesser charges of criminal assault and for placing minors in danger.
After her arrest, she appeared in Cleveland Municipal Court, where charges were officially filed.
She is currently being held at the county jail where she lives, with bail set at $1 million dollars.
