There may be other specific situations or other leave periods, depending on the category of worker and the Collective Agreement. However, in the most common cases, it is possible to be absent from work without deduction from salary for the following periods and reasons:
- 3 days: by virtue of the worker's marriage;
- 1 day every 12 months worked: to donate blood;
- Up to 120 days: due to Maternity Leave;
- For 2 weeks: as a result of non-criminal abortion;
- 5 days: paternity leave (up to 20 days in the case of a Citizen Company);
- Up to 15 days: for health reasons. After this period, you will receive a benefit from the INSS;
- 2 days: for the bereavement of a spouse, ascendant, descendant, sibling or person who lives under their economic dependence;
- 2 days: to accompany pregnant women to the doctor and to accompany children up to 6 years old to medical appointments.
It is worth remembering that, although such situations are provided for by law, it is necessary for the employee to use their absences based on common sense so as not to harm third parties, and also that unjustified absences generate other losses.
