How does “Results About You” work?
After many complaints about the circulation of false information and invasion of privacy, “Results About You” appears. Through it, it will be possible to check which of your personal data are available on the internet. In this case, the search will happen in a similar way to what happens when we search for some information on Google.
Then, the result will indicate if there is any disclosure of your address, cell phone number, e-mail, in addition to documents and other personal data. This is intended to combat the misuse of personal information, which is a major problem today.
In addition, it will be possible to request the removal of content concerning you. Soon after, you will be able to follow the status of your request, which will be “In progress” or “Approved”.
This option will be available in your own Google profile, in the upper right corner where your photo is. So, when checking the search results, there will be three dots next to the site, where you can click and then report and request removal of the content.
When will the tool be available?
Google has already made this tool available in some countries in Europe and also in the United States. However, there is still no prediction of when this feature will be able to be used by Latin American users, like us Brazilians.
However, with the increasing reporting of data misuse, there will likely be widespread dissemination of the feature around the world. Not to mention that, once already in use, it is to be expected that “Resultados Sobre Você” will soon arrive in Brazil. Finally, it is worth noting that this is a mechanism that for now only works on Android or iOS phones.
