Have you noticed that most potted cacti that we see out there are planted in ceramic pots? This happens because cacti are plants that need to transpire more water than they receive in watering.
These ceramic pots must be properly drilled at the bottom, for better drainage, and must be shallow pots. So, you should put a substrate in the pot that mixes sand and pebbles, also include a fertilizer that contains phosphorus and nitrogen.
In order for drainage to be more effective, it is also necessary to put some gravel or tile in the pot. Remembering that all items must be in balanced quantity.
How to care for cacti at home?
The cactus, being a more different plant, also requires very specific care and must be carefully observed.
Lighting, for example, needs to be constant. With the exception of colorful cacti, cacti should receive sunlight every day. This lighting should be between 10 am and 3 pm, that is, at times when the sun is hotter.
As for watering, we must bear in mind that the shards accumulate water, which implies little watering. Therefore, if the climate is very hot, in the Brazilian summer, you will have to water it once a week. However, in other seasons, in colder seasons, you can space the watering every 15 days or monthly. Remembering that, watering a cactus too much you will have problems, because the growth of your cactus will be directly affected.
