Some Common Mistakes We Make in the Kitchen

One of the most common cases is washing chicken in the sink before preparation. It seems like a simple thing, and I'm sure you've done it, but the water that drips from the chicken can contain bacteria and contaminate nearby utensils. So, it is advisable, when washing the chicken, to remove everything that is nearby to avoid contamination.

Handling food without washing your hands is also not hygienic. With that, it's important that you always wash your hands while cooking. That is, this practice must be repeated before, during and after food preparation.

It is also not advisable to wash vegetables with water alone. In this case, it is recommended to use bleach and soap. For green leaves, put a liter of water with a spoonful of bleach in a bowl, leave the leaves immersed for about 15 minutes for complete cleaning and then rinse in running water.

Why is the kitchen one of the places with the most bacteria?

By concentrating a large amount of organic materials, including food, the kitchen is one of the places in the house that most concentrate bacteria. The sink is the largest reservoir of these microorganisms, as it is where food is defrosted, dishes are washed and there is no concern for correct hygiene.

With that, it's important to pay attention when defrosting food and washing them. When finished, clean the sink with bleach and soap to eliminate any bacteria that could be a result of defrosting.
