Young children are a real danger to themselves, especially when they are playing with small parts that could be swallowed.
However, a mother from the United States seems not to care so much about this assertion. This is the owner of the profile @colleethaspears1 from TikTok, who, upon seeing that their son had swallowed a Lego piece, filmed the child's despair instead of taking him to a hospital.

In the video, which already has almost 6 million views and thousands of comments, Colleetha's son appears coming up to her and informing her that he swallowed a Lego piece while playing.
Immediately the woman asks: “How did you swallow it?”, while the desperate child, crying profusely, asks for help without stopping. “Call the doctors, Mom! Please! Call the doctors!” said the little one.
The video goes on and Colleetha asks: "Are you choking?", but her son, extremely scared, does not answer anything. Fortunately, it is possible to notice that he was not out of breath.
Possibly, the mother's attitude was an attempt to arouse strength and courage in the child, which may not be recommended in cases like this.

When urged to speak on the matter, Dr. Robert Kramer, who is a pediatric gastroenterologist at Children's Hospital of Colorado said that this type of situation is common and, in most cases, has low gravity.
“Our hospital removes around 140 to 160 accidentally swallowed objects every year,” says the specialist. "We also receive many phone calls about cases like this [from Colleetha's son] and we always give guidance and make observations", he added.
Still according to Dr. Robert, most of the time the objects “pass straight by”, giving no reason for major concerns.
However, if the swallowed object is larger or has magnets and sharp pieces of iron, help must be immediate. Signs such as shortness of breath or changes in the color of the lips and cheeks are also alarming.
Comments condemn the mother's action
Despite the gratifying good prognosis of Colleetha's son's case, her video generated a wave of negative reactions from Internet users.
“Was she trying to get the child to explain what happened in such a situation? This is crazy,” wrote one user. "Poor child. He just needed some reassurance that he was going to be okay,” another person said.
Shortly thereafter, Colleetha published other videos in which it was possible to see her son well and recovered, to the relief of people who followed the boy's agony.
