The vowels "o" and "u" - orthographic particularities

Spelling represents one of the obstacles that permeate the daily lives of many users of the linguistic system. This is an undeniable fact, but nothing that a little practice does not resolve this impasse.

This practice is related to assiduity in reading and, consequently, in writing, as both procedures enrich lexical capacity and improve writing competence.

Thus, the article that is now evidenced is intended to assist in this attempt, and therefore portrays about of the spelling related to the vowels "o" and "u", thus expressed under the following linguistic circumstances:


* The following words are spelled with "O":

bar, bar, backpack, stain, tenement, gizzard, mosquito, grief, kid, coughing, throat, swallowing, polenta, toilet, making fun, etc.


* Those represented by:

amulet, manhole, mouse, fifties, agouti, tannery, tortoise, jabuticaba, clog, inlay, jaw, supetão, board, board, nettle, urticaria, among others.

Such vowels are related to semantic issues, which also represent orthographic aspects. So let's look at some examples:


rush - rush / dam - dam water in dam

blow - wipe your nose / blow - boo

length – length / greeting – greeting

cost - sail the coast / pay - pay the costs

sort - supply, vary / produce - have as a consequence
