The benefits that a homemade repellent brings are diverse, and best of all is that it is possible to use natural resources in its composition.

In this sense, we have prepared a recipe for a homemade repellent made with basil. So, it's time to separate the ingredients and put your hand in the dough!

You will need:

  • 30 drops of citronella essential oil;
  • 500 ml of water;
  • 500 ml of alcohol or apple cider vinegar;
  • 1 cup of basil leaf.

Method of preparation

Now that you have the ingredients at hand, it's time to prepare the repellent.

  • First, it is essential that the basil leaves are very clean. After washing them, shred the leaves and set them aside. Then put the water in a pan and bring it to a boil.
  • After the water reaches the boiling point, add the basil leaves and turn off the heat immediately. Once this is done, you must cover the pan and let the mixture rest for 1 hour.
  • With the end of the resting time, add the alcohol – or apple cider vinegar – to the infusion and mix well.
  • Then, also add the 30 drops of citronella oil to the mixture, which is what will give the repellent a prolonged effect. Finally, transfer the solution to a container – preferably spray – and apply it to the skin.

Ready! Your homemade repellent is ready to use and you will never suffer from mosquitoes again.
