The official summary synopsis released by Netflix is as follows:
“A young mother's incredible story of survival and determination as she navigates a world of poverty and abuse, struggling to find her worth.”
As advertised, the series is the portrait of a highly successful autobiography. The work was written by Stephanie Land. To reach the platform's screens, the plot had the same production as Bela Revenge and the Shameless series.
Alex's story
Alex (Margaret Qualley) is a young woman who needs to build a prosperous future while supporting and caring for her daughter. The young mother left behind an abusive relationship.
The woman is willing to do anything to win. For this, it will take a lot of struggle and resilience. Her first job is as a cleaning lady.
As in digital games, Alex will have to face several obstacles to reach his goal. The drama has elements of real life added to fiction, to give emotion to the series.
The miniseries has 7 episodes and can now be watched by Netflix subscribers. Critics say it must be this year's most exciting production.
Maid is an adaptation of the book: “Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay and a Mother’s Will to Survive”. Translation: “Cleaning Woman: Hard Work, Low Wage and a Mother's Will to Survive”.

Right off the bat, in the first scene. Alex leaves her boyfriend after suffering severe mental abuse. In the book, the author's commentary is:
