According to the government, new cars will have a reduction in the Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI). In addition, the cost of the Social Integration and Contribution Program for the Financing of Social Security (PIS/Cofins) for the automotive industry will also be reduced.
Decrease could impact more than 10% of new car prices
With this measure, new cars in Brazil can be between 1.5% and 10.96% cheaper. This measure applies to vehicles that cost up to R$ 120,000, that is, it mainly includes popular cars produced and sold in the country.
Everything will depend on some factors such as price, energy efficiency and density of the industry in the country. Even so, it is a counterpoint to the constant highs seen since 2020.
Ministry of Finance has 15 days to present the parameters
It is important to highlight that there are still no details on the compensation of the collection. However, the Ministry of Finance has 15 days to present the data and details that guided the new decree.
All information was passed on by the current Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin. He is the Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services.

According to the National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), the final price of cars to the consumer may fall to less than R$ 60,000. This is possible according to the policy of each assembler.
Currently, it is not possible to buy a popular car for less than R$ 60 thousand. The president of Anfavea, Márcio de Lima Leite, explained that it is important that the benefit is for at least 12 months, for better planning and investments in the industry.
According to Leite, the discounts will be immediate after the publication of the MP and the decree and will even affect the vehicles that are already in the automakers' yards, as pointed out by the speech made by Agência Brasil.
