A UK news agency, Reuters, reported that Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology would be the linchpin of lawsuits filed in the city of San Francisco, California. At first, the nomenclature of the feature would suggest that the car cannot drive completely autonomously and independently.

Tesla cars are not 100% autonomous?

The company's vehicles are not considered 100% autonomous only because of the FSD, which makes it valid to say that the automaker has never been selling its cars for this purpose.

The biggest problem seen is that the nomenclature ends up causing some confusion for consumers to understand, since the moment they are faced with promises of automatic driving at maximum power, the customer is left hoping that the level of autonomous driving can be presented by the technology implemented in the vehicle. However, Tesla cars have level 4 in the self-driving ranking, which would be one point below the maximum level for this classification.

The person who is the author of the commented process is called Briggs Matsko, but he was not the only one to trigger the legal system against the giant Tesla. Since the FSD appeal was opened in 2016, another 35 lawsuits were filed against the California automaker, as shown by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Some of the lawsuits end up coming from the very authorities that conduct investigations into Tesla's technology. The last lawsuit that was filed by Briggs Matsko, shows that the company uses the wrong naming of the resource as if it were a false advertising to try to encourage customers so that, right away, they find themselves buying vehicles without thinking twice times.

Tesla has never sold its cars as if they were 100% autonomous, even though Elon Musk has spoken and promised the sale of a fully automatic one at direction until the end of this year 2022. On the other hand, even though the products are not in fact self-driving, the company has never shown any interest in dropping the term FSD from its semi-automatic driving feature.
