Tip 1: Don't give your phone number to couriers

One of the most applied scams with the delivery platform is order theft. In this scheme, the user places an order, but does not receive it, despite iFood confirming the delivery of the order in the system.

This happens when the scammer contacts the customer via 0800 to supposedly find out more information about the delivery, such as point of reference, explanations, etc. But, in fact, the goal is to collect the last 4 digits of the user's phone, which is the order delivery confirmation password. So never pass on your phone or send your location.

Tip 2: Be wary of “must see” promotions

Another common scam is fake promotions or support requests. In this case, criminals send a private message on a social network identical to the official one, announcing a discount coupon opportunity or identifying a problem.

The goal is to collect data that give access to user profiles, where the scammer enjoys benefits such as the iFood Card, credit balance app's digital wallet and coupons, in addition to placing orders with registered cards and even validating cloned cards to make shopping.

Bear in mind that iFood does not request confirmation of data via social networks. Pay attention to the verification seal on the pages and communication channels and never pass on email and password data to release promotions.

Tip 3: Don't accept extra fees

In this scheme, the scammer informs the customer that he will have to pay some kind of extra fee due to some mishap. Remember that the entire value of the service, from the product to the delivery fee, is informed through the platform before placing the order. No extra fee should be accepted, and in this case, contact the establishment or iFood support.

Tip 4: Pay Attention When Paying

Undoubtedly, one of the most harmful and refined scams that criminals apply with the platform occurs when paying with card machines. Usually, scammers call saying that there was a problem with the bike and that someone else will deliver. In this system, the scammer tampers with the machine's display to charge amounts far above the order without the customer knowing.

When the order arrives, demand the printed receipt and wait for confirmation of the purchase amount notification on your cell phone. Also pay attention to the amount entered by the delivery person in the machine and do not make the payment if the equipment has a broken display (making it difficult to see) or is off.
