With that, a new coup is emerging. Criminals are sending a link through WhatsApp in a message that informs that the person has won free stickers. If you received this type of contact, keep an eye out and do not open the link at all!

World Cup 2022

The event will start very soon. It is no wonder that we have seen thousands of people wanting to complete this album created by the company Panini. The movement of money draws attention, so criminals are taking advantage of the fans' excitement - and also the price that the album and songs stickers are costing – to promote a massive wave of scams where they are supposedly giving away over 400 sticker packs free.

As informed by the famous cybersecurity agency, Kaspersky, the new scheme occurs through messages sent on WhatsApp. The contact is accompanied by a link that may contain the following subject “access and compete for the album with more than 400 prints”. For the coup to be a success, the user must click and enter personal data to claim the supposed prize.

According to the spokesman for Kaspersky in Latin America, Fabio Assolini: “In the case of the soccer sticker album, the campaign is fake because its real objective is to get the person to register on raffle sites or betting sites suspects”.

The moment the user accesses the link, he will be taken to a survey with numerous basic questions about the album and the World Cup. There it is also revealed how many units are available. There is an alert that induces the user to hurry, as he may soon run out of the supposed prize.

At the end of completing the survey, the person will claim the prize. With this, the survey will ask the victim to forward the link with this fake promotion to their contacts in the application.

This is a way for criminals to keep the scam spreading among people.

According to experts, the criminals they guarantee a certain amount of money, because every time a victim falls into the trap, signs up and forwards the link to third parties, they receive a “commission” for each access made.
