Meta is accused of colluding with human trafficking on networks

A specific group of California shareholders is suing the board of Goal, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, questioning their attitudes towards human trafficking. Recently, cases of trafficking have increased, and most of the major social networks are involved. In the lawsuit, the shareholders allege that Meta “turned a blind eye” to what has been happening over the years.

The lawsuit filed against the technological giant requests that Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of the company, along with members of the board and other executives, are ordered to reformulate the platform's security terms and pay indemnities. The complaint was filed last Monday, the 20th, in a Delaware court.

Meta is being prosecuted for facilitating human trafficking

In the process, although the board is being questioned, the main target has been Mark Zuckerberg for being the main person responsible for Meta. When contacted by the AFP, company spokesman Andy Stone said the company "clearly prohibits the exploitation of human beings and the sexual exploitation of children" in its defence.

In the indictment, the group accusing Meta claims that the company has worked to facilitate the work of exploiters and criminals, human trafficking and crimes involving minors. The process indicates that Meta must present and prove which have been the best methods to inhibit these accusations.

“Over the past decade, Meta's apps have helped, supported and facilitated the work of criminals responsible for pimping, human trafficking and crimes against minors. that occur on a large scale on the platforms", said the group of shareholders in the complaint, pointing out the failures of Meta and also of the company's board of directors in approaching the problem.

In addition to this accusation, Meta also faces other complaints involving minors, children and adolescents for the same justifications that the group of shareholders alleged.
