Alert: these are the dangers of paying the minimum on your credit card bill…
After the emergence of the PIX, bank transactions gained even more strength in Brazil, streamlining the process for many people. From its first day of operation (11/16/2020) to 09/30/2022, the PIX was responsible for 26 billion transactions and an incredible movement of an incredible R$ 12.9 trillion.
However, its operation is threatened by the presence of banking malware responsible for negatively influencing transactions, harming institutions financial and your customers.
How does the coup happen?
The harmful digital agent has a name and is called BrasDex. Basically, the virus has access to the victim's data and, consequently, to their banking information, all remotely.
When a user is about to carry out a transaction via PIX, the amount and recipient are changed by the virus. The victim does not notice any error, as the virus shows a fake screen implying that everything is ok, but the real information is “behind”.
Then, the victim types the password and confirms the operation, sending the value to the recipient selected by BrasDex.
How does the virus gain access to victims' devices?
The way malware collects data happens in several ways. The main weapons are links in email, messages via WhatsApp or SMS, and fake websites.
Through flashy information, which is usually false, victims click on links that install the virus on the device without their consent. From there, whoever controls the virus has full access to the victim's data and manages to apply the coup.
