Banana peels as an ingredient in delicious preparations
You can use the peels in sweet or savory preparations. However, it is very important to highlight something essential before making recipes with banana peels: cleaning.
Thus, first place the bananas in a mixture containing a tablespoon of bleach for a liter of water and wait 15 minutes. Once this is done, wash the fruits under running water and, after this process, you can start preparing the recipes.
Banana peel candy with coconut
In addition to being very appetizing, the banana peel and coconut jam perfectly harmonizes these two ingredients. Therefore, the tip is to assemble the candy in a few individual cups, in order to taste it little by little or share it with friends.
Ingredients
- Peels of 12 bananas;
- 2 cups of brown sugar;
- ½ cup of water;
- ½ cup grated coconut;
- 2 tablespoons wheat flour;
- 1 tablespoon of oil;
- 4 cloves (optional) or a tablespoon of coconut essence.
Method of preparation
Slice the bananas and place them in a pan with half a cup of water. Then let it cook for about 10 minutes. Subsequently, beat the peels with the water in the blender until you get a paste.
Transfer this paste to a pan, add the other ingredients, bring to a low boil and stir non-stop with a wooden spoon. Finally, the ideal point is when the candy is coming off the bottom of the pan.
Crispy farofa made with banana peel
Ingredients
- Peels of 2 plantains or silver;
- 2 garlic cloves;
- 1/3 of onion;
- 3 tablespoons of palm oil;
- 6 tablespoons of cassava flour;
- Salt to taste.
Method of preparation
After cleaning the bananas, peel them, cut the peels into very small pieces and set aside. Done that, also cut the garlic and onion into very small pieces. Then, heat the oil over low heat, add the onion and garlic to brown and then add the skins, stirring for about 3 minutes.
Gradually add the flour and stir constantly with a spoon. Finally, put the salt, stir some more and turn off the fire. Ready, you will have a delicious farofa that can be served along with several dishes!
