Since last Sunday (18), the internet has been abuzz with just one subject in particular: the mysterious disappearance of the submarine of OpenGate, which took five people to the wreck of the Titanic, in the Atlantic Ocean.
Thus, it did not take long for theories to be raised as to what really happened to the fragile vessel and its possible end. And, in one of these discussions, netizens found a powerful (and perhaps expected) compatibility: an episode of “The Simpsons“.

Another Simpsons prediction?
It's not the first time that “The Simpsons” has drawn attention by mentioning a famous human event; now, it would be no different. This time, Twitter users rescued an episode with a situation similar to the disappearance of the submarine “Titan”.

The episode referred to is entitled ‘Na Onda do Mar’ and was shown during the 9th season of the series, between 1997 and 1998. The plot features Homer, Barney and Moe in the Navy reserve, when the three end up getting trapped in a nuclear submarine during routine training. Although there is no real relationship between the two cases, netizens were still surprised by this "prediction".
While arguably similar, in the original story the characters do not mention anything related to the Titanic or make any mention of an expedition to the bottom of the sea. The producer and screenwriter of “The Simpsons”, Mike Reiss, revealed his connection to the events in an unusual way. He disclosed that he boarded the submarine Titan of the “OpenGate Expedition” in the summer of last year. Before boarding, it was necessary to sign a liability waiver.
Although it is a common procedure, the first page mentioned the word “death” three times, which scared the producer. The trip is estimated to cost around US$250,000. In the report, the producer also revealed that the sensation during the expedition is similar to falling like a stone for two and a half hours.
