What influences the IPVA price?
In addition to the different rules between states, the car model will weigh heavily when calculating the Motor Vehicle Ownership Tax (IPVA). For this, when defining the exemption, the year of manufacture of the vehicle is taken into account. In this case, in 2022, more than 39 models are part of this list.
In general, the exemption is applied to vehicles with more than 15 years of manufacture. However, states such as Amapá, Rio Grande do Norte and Roraima also waive the payment for cars over 10 years old.
Despite the mentioned states, most consider the IPVA exemption for vehicles with more than 15 years of manufacture.
In the list with more than 10 years of manufacture include:
- Audi A3 2010;
- 2010 Chevrolet Astra;
- 2010 Chevrolet Classic;
- Fiat Palio 2010;
- Volkswagen Gol G4 2010;
- Volkswagen Gol G4 2010;
- Gol G5 2010;
- Volkswagen Golf 2010;
- Audi A4 2010; Audi A6 2010;
- 2010 Chevrolet Omega;
- 2010 Chevrolet Prisma;
- 2010 Ford Fiesta;
- Honda Fit 2010;
- Hyundai Tucson 2010;
- Volkswagen Polo Sedan 2010.
On the other hand, most states require cars to be 15 or more years old. It is a reality in Amazonas, Espírito Santo, Piauí, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Pará, Paraíba, Rio de Janeiro, Rondônia, Sergipe, Tocantins and also in the Federal District.

- Volkswagen Gol G2 2005;
- Goal G3 2005;
- Volkswagen Golf 2005;
- Volkswagen Paraty 2005.
In the states of São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Acre and Paraná, the IPVA exemption applies only to cars manufactured more than 20 years ago.
The following models are on the list:
- Alfa Romeo 145 2000;
- Asia Topic 2000;
- Audi A3 2000;
- Audi A6 2000;
- Chevrolet S10 2000.
