Fly for less: Government rules allow airline tickets for R$ 200

During last Thursday, the 13th, through a lecture held at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), the Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França, made an exciting announcement for travelers.

He revealed the plans for the 'Voa Brasil' project, whose objective is to offer airline tickets at affordable prices, starting at R$ 200, and provide around 1.5 million tickets per month. The program already has the adhesion of the airlines Azul, Latam and Gol.

The initiative is expected to start making airline tickets available in August. The Government expects the project to reach its maximum capacity in a period of approximately one year.

The initial launch of Voa Brasil will be exclusive to retirees and pensioners who have not flown in the last 12 months, with the possibility of purchasing up to four segments within the program.

'Voa Brasil' program will be implemented gradually

According to the Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França, the program will start gradually, serving retirees and pensioners first and, later, public servants.

The objective is to offer tickets withreduced prices during periods of low demand, which correspond to the months of February to June, and from August to November. During these times, there is an average idleness of 21% on domestic flights in the country.

The minister foresees a great demand for airline tickets with more accessible prices, which will result in crowded flights. This will make travel available to destinations that are in demand but currently not widely used due to higher costs.

França explained that the program will not use public resources, but the empty seats of airlines. According to the minister, the initial capacity is to serve approximately 1.5 million passengers per month.

He underscored the importance of a gradual approach and the need to prepare airportsto deal with this increase in demand.
